Have you ever been at work staring at one of your many spreadsheets and pondered the meaning of life? Is this corporate position worth wasting away next to a spectacular view of the parking lot? Do you want to get away from it all and go where the wind takes you? The BF Surfer in GTAV can ensure your problems fade away like a poorly executed tattoo.

Power

Power put in his resignation last week due to “unforeseen circumstances”. He really wasn’t pulling much of his own weight anyway. The BF Surfer puts around town using some type of engine whose displacement is completely unnecessary. It doesn’t really feel like an internal combustion engine, but more like a glorified hamster wheel run by Rodney the rodent. If you ask Rodney very nicely and put your foot down, he slowly rises to the occasion from his golden-brown rocking chair and steps up to the wheel. It does 0-60 in an amount of time only equal to the creation of our universe and regards highways as a forever no-go zone.

Handling

Since the BF Surfer never really accelerates fast enough to hurt anyone, it hangs onto corners quite well. With it’s short and stubby body, you’d think it would be quickly prone to deciding it doesn’t want to be on 4 wheels anymore. It would take a remarkable amount of speed get this slice of history on it’s roof. We’ve tired. The steering isn’t quick by any means of the word and you can read Tolkien novels while changing directions. The breaks are unremarkable, but since the speed isn’t exactly life changing it shouldn’t be a problem.

The Looks

Even though the BF Surfer resembles a shoe box, there’s something charming about its dimensions. It gives no apologies for it’s boxy demeanor. It is what it is, and that’s the exact feeling it gives off. There’s windows in every single direction that gives the BF Surfer a bit of a greenhouse effect. You can see absolutely everything in this thing. Visibility is as clear as the realization that you really should have studied for that test.

How Does it Drive?

Even though the BF Surfer won’t be winning any races, and it’s cornering prowess is less than sub-par, it’s quite nice to drive around town. The ride is soft and a bit bouncy. Hills don’t greet it with a happy face and don’t expect to be light on the accelerator. However, there’s a certain beauty to the BF Surfer. It makes you slow down and enjoy life. It takes away the normal rush of life and replaces it with the wonders of arriving 5 minutes late.

Value

This beautiful piece of history will only set you back $11,000. It’s an extraordinary piece of kit for the price. How about it’s competitors? The Bravado Youga is on the high end at $16,000 and the Bravado Rumpo sits right in the middle at $13,000. They’re quite a bit larger than the BF Surfer though, so you won’t be able to fit into many tight places.

Conclusion

I love the BF Surfer. It’s small, plucky, and very entertaining to drive around town. The steering is vague. You certainly aren’t getting anywhere quickly, but the little BF Surfer keeps on moving. This is the definition of slow car fast is much better than fast car slow.
